OUR MISSION.......

The Mission is to protect and support the residents of Green Valley and their guests by providing an effective recreational desert preserve as well as a buffer between town and the west side copper mines.

UPDATE

After over 5 years of our Committee working to obtain permanent protection of the West Desert Preserve, and with the significant support of the community, GVC, Pima County, and the adjoining Freeport-McMoRan Sierrita (Sierrita) copper mines, we believe success will be achieved within a year. Please see the “West Desert Update – April” on our INFORMATION page for more details.

Also, we have recently started planning for a new paved bike/walking path thru the WDP. We are calling this “The Preserve Pathway”, and a concept of this proposal is shown on the West Desert Preserve Map on the INFORMATION page. This pathway could be accessed from the existing gateways to the WDP, and would be attractive to the many that would like to walk or bike on pavement thru the desert environment.
